Knowing
the New Testament
Harmony of Synoptics
The
last week of September 1978
KRLD radio station in Dallas
Texas
one of the
most respected and popular stations in the city
reported that Jim Gilliam
the
Los Angeles Dodger player and coach
had died of a cerebral hemorrhage. One
hour later
KRLD again reported his death
but stated the cause of death was a
heart attack
seemingly contradicting the previous account. The next hour
the
report gave the complete account
for Jim Gilliam had died of a heart attack as
a result of a severe cerebral hemorrhage. Both accounts were true
but it took
the third account to put the whole picture together.
There
is a lesson here for those who would point out that apparent inconsistencies in
the various Gospel accounts’ chronology and details cast doubt on the inerrancy
of the whole. One the contrary
we need the narration and perspective of all
the Gospel writers to put the whole picture together. ── Michael P. Green《Illustrations
