POWER OF DARKNESS.
Darkness
represents that which is evil
hence men love darkness
＆c. There is the darkness of ignorance
the darkness of
misery
and the darkness of sin.
Ⅰ. Subtle power. “ Now the serpent was
more subtle than any beast” ( Gen.3:1).
Ⅱ. Blighting power. “ Behold all that he
hath is in thy power” (Job 1:12). “ Satan smote Job with sore boils” (Job 2:7).
Ⅲ. Accusing power. “Doth Job fear God for
nought?” (Job 1:9)
Ⅳ. Resisting power. “ Satan standing at
his right hand to resist him” (Zechariah 3:1).
Ⅴ. Constraining power. “ Satan provoked

Ⅵ. Opposing power. “ Get thee behind Me
Satan” (Mark 8:33).
Ⅶ. Binding power. “ Satan hath hound these
eighteen years” (Luke 13:16).
Ⅷ. Sifting power. “ Satan hath desired to
have you
that he may sift you as wheat” (Luke 22:31).
Ⅸ. Robbing power. “ Then cometh the devil
and taketh away the word out of their hearts” （Luke
8:12）.
Ⅹ. Lying power. “ Why hath Satan filled
thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost? (Acts 5:3)
Ⅺ. Hindering power. “ We would have
come……Satan hindered us” (1.Thess.2:18).
Ⅻ. Persecuting
power. “ The messenger of Satan to buffet me” (2.Cor.12:7).
XIII. Destructive power. “ Then entered Satan
into Judas” (Luke 22:3).
