Diligence
Procrastination
While cleaning out his desk
a man
found a shoe-repair ticket that was ten years old. Figuring that he had nothing
to lose
he went to the shop and gave the ticket to the repairman
who began to
search the back room for the unclaimed shoes. After several minutes
he
reappeared and gave the ticket back to the man.
“What’s wrong?” asked the man.
“Couldn’t you find my shoes?”
“Oh
I found them
” replied the
repairman
“and they’ll be ready next Friday.”
Procrastination is not the result of
lack of time to complete a task. It is an attitude and must be dealt with as
such. ── Michael P. Green《Illustrations for Biblical
Preaching》
Procrastination
The story is told of an infidel who
died after willing his farm to the devil. This gave the court cause for some
head scratching
but after several months of deliberation it handed down the
following decision: “It is decided that the best way to carry out the wish of
the deceased is to allow the farm to grow weeds
the soil to erode
and the house
and barn to rot. In our opinion
the best way to leave something to the devil
is to do nothing.”
Therein lies a truth. Few of us would
ever admit to such infidelity
but many will procrastinate and postpone the
great decisions of life and end up having willed our soul to the devil. ──
Michael P. Green《Illustrations for Biblical Preaching》

Perhaps the most valuable result of
all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do
when
it ought to be done
whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that
ought to be learned; and however early a man’s training begins
it is probably
the last lesson that he learns thoroughly.— Thomas Huxley
Procrastination
Procrastination is the assassination
of motivation. ── Michael P. Green《Illustrations for Biblical
